FireRed/LeafGreen Walkthrough

Choosing Your Starter and Battling Your Rival

Start up your game and put in your name and everything. Once you start out, open up your PC and take out a Potion. head outside and proceed north out of Pallet Town.

You'll be stopped by Professor Oak. He'll talk to you about Pokemon then take you to his lab. He'll let you choose one of the three Pokemon on his desk to use.

Your choices are Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander. If you choose Charmander, you might have a hard time against the very first gym leader.

Once you choose, Professor Oak's grandson aka your Rival, will also choose a Pokemon. The one he chooses will have a type advantage over the one you chose. If you chose Bulbasaur, he'll choose Charmander. If you chose Squirtle, he'll choose Bulbasaur. If you chose Charmander, he'll choose Squirtle.

Anyway, try to leave the lab and you'll be stopped by your Rival. You'll be tossed into your very first battle in the game. You don't have a lot of moves to choose from, so just Tacle/Scratch/Pound away and use the Potion you took out earlier if you need it. Both of you will be at level 5. If you win, you'll gain a level.

Route 1, Viridian City and a Second Rival Battle

Exit Pallet Town to the north to enter Route 1.

There's nothing much to do on Route 1. There's just Pidgeys and Rattatas here. Head through this short road into Viridian City.

There's nothing much you can do in this city right now either. There's a good place to train and capture Pokemon on Route 22 to the west of this city. If you want to capture Pokemon, go ahead and buy a few PokeBalls from the PokeMart.

Back on Route 22, if you head north on this Route, you'll be sent into a battle with your Rival again. He'll have his starter and a Pidgey with him, both of whom will be at level 9. If you feel you need training before this battle, head north to the Viridian Forest to train a bit.

Route 2 and the Viridian Forest

Head north out of Viridian City and into Route 2. It's also a realatively short route. You'll be in the Viridian Forest in no time.

From the entrance, take the path to the right and then head north. You'll battle a Big Catcher on the way. From there, take either path in fornt of you. They lead to the same place. You'll reach another fork with both paths that lead to the same place.

Continue to the right and through the path. Keep heading through this path and you'll be out of this forest. Head north and you'll be in Pewter City.

Pewter City and the Gym Leader Brock

You'll have a gym battle coming up. If you need training, there's a large patch of grass outside the city that you should've passed by on the way here.

Brock uses a level 12 Geodude and a level 14 Onix. If you chose Squirtle or Bulbasaur as your starter, this battle shouldn't be too hard. If you chose Charmander, you might want to train a Butterfree to ease things up a bit.

Once your done with Brock, heal up and head east out of town.

Mount Moon

There's a good number of trainers on the way to Mount Moon. All of them give a good amount of experience points for you to train up on. If you plan on battling each and every trainer here, I suggest you either head back to Pewter City to heal up or push all the way through to the entrance of Mount Moon where there is a Pokemon Center.

Once you make it to the entrance of Mount Moon, heal up.

Head inside Mount Moon. head up and then head to the right. Keep going and head left when you reach a fork. Keep following the path and then head down. You'll see a ladder here, but skip it. That isn't the ladder you want to go down. Head past it and you'll find another ladder. Go down this one.

Keep following the path and you'll find another ladder to head down. In the next room, you'll see another ladder right away. head down it. If you've seen a Team Rocket member, you're on the right track.

Continue along the path. You'll see another Rocket member soon. Battle him and continue along. Defeat the trainer guarding two fossils. You'll get to pick up one of the fossils. Dome Fossil changes into Kabuto and the Helix reverts to Omanyte.

After getting the fossils, head left and down the ladder. Keep going along and you'll find yourself on Route 4.

Keep heading east and you'll end up in Cerulean City.

Gym Battle With Misty and a Rival Battle

From here, you can either head north across a bridge to battle your Rival or head straight to the gym. If you need training, I suggest battling your Rival first.

Misty uses a level 18 Staryu and a level 21 Starmie. If you managed to find and catch the rare Pikachu back in the Viridian Forest and trained it up, this shouldn't be hard. It shouldn't be hard if you chose Bulbasaur as your starter as well. Charmander will have a hard time here.

head north and out of the city to battle your Rival. He'll have his starter at level 18 along with a level 16 Abra, a level 15 Rattata, and a level 17 Pidgeotto. You'll get the Voice Checker for defeating him.

Once you're through with him, take the Nugget Bridge Challenge or whatever it's called. You'll have to battle a set of trainers and you'll get a Nugget at the end. From the end of the Nugget Bridge, head east and through a small maze-like thing. Keep heading east to find a house.

Inside, you'll find a Clefairy who claims to be a human. Head over to the PC in the corner and help the thing out. Moment's later, Bill pops out. He'll give you the SS. Ticket for helping him out.

Head back to Cerulean and heal up.

The Underground Pass

Head to the house in the north-east part of town to find a house that has been robbed by Team Rocket. Head our the back door and battle a Rocket member. You'll get TM28-Dig for defeating him.

From that point, head to the right and then keep going south until yuo see a building on the right side of the screen. This is the Underground Pass. Head through the Pass to find yourself on Route 6. Head through this Route to get to Vermillion City.

Vermillion City

There's obviously a gym here, but the thing is, you can't enter it cause a freaking tree is blocking your way. You'll need HM01-Cut to cut the tree down.

Head over to the docks to find the S.S. Anne. Show the guy the S.S. Ticket you got earlier from Bill to gain entry to the ship. Head left and down the stairs. Then head down all the way. head to the right and you'll find your Rival soon. His starter will be level 20 and will be accompanied by a level 19 Pidgeotto, a level 16 Raticate, and a level 17 Kadabra.

After kicking his butt, head up to find the Captain. Talk to him and he'll be grateful (for TALKING to him?!?!) and he'll give you HM01-Cut. Head out of the ship to see it sail away....

Cut the tree and head inside the gym. Remember in the old RBY days where you had to find the 2 hidden switches? Find them. Once you do, you can battle Lt. Surge himself. If you've caught a Geodude, this will be easy. Surge has a Voltorb at level 21, Pikachu at level 18, and lastly a Raichu at level 24.

After the battle, heal up. Head to the west part of town and go inside the Fan Club HQ. Talk to the President to get a Bike Coupon which will get you a Bike later.

Rock Tunnel

So...head east out of Vermillion City. On the way you'll pass Diglett Cave. Head through it. It's impossible to get lost here. You'll end up on Route 2. Head south and enter a building. Talk to the Professor's Aid here to get HM05-Flash. He'll only give it to you if you've caught at least 10 Pokemon. Head back through the cave to Vermillion City, through the Underground Pass, and back to Cerulean City.

Exchange that Bike Coupon you got for an actual Bike.

Head east over to Route 9. Keep moving along and battle your way through this Route until you reach a Pokemon Center. Inside will be another one of Professor's Aid who will give you an Everstone if you've caught 20 Pokemon. It's not needed to complete the game so ignore him if you don't have at least 20 Pokemon. Heal up and go outside. Head into Rock Tunnel.

Head south past the trainer and follow the path down a ladder. Head south and then head to the left. Keep walking and when you reach a fork, take the turn. Keep going and head down another ladder.  Follow the path around the room to find a ladder.  Head east all the way. Then north past a trainer to find a ladder.  Head all the way down then simply head east to find the exit.  Head down this route to find Lavender Town.

Lavender Town

There's no point in entering the tower right now. You'll just keep running into a ghost. There is nothing to do here right now. Head west out of town.

Another Underground Pass.

Head west past all the trainers. You'll find a Guard House with guards that won't let you through. So head back out of the house and north a little bit to find and enter the Underground Pass. You'll end up on Route 7 which leads to Celadon City.

The Game Corner Basement

Head over to the Gme Corner and talk to the Rocket standing by a poster. Defeat him and press a button behind the poster to open up a set of stairs on your right. Head down them to enter the basement.

Choose to go to Basement 3. Head voer to your left to see a puzzle of some sort. Traverse through it to find a set of stairs leading down to B4.  Head over to the northwest part of this room and battle a Rocket member. He'll give you a lift key. Head to Basement 2 now.

There's another puzzle here. Make your way to the end of the puzzle to find another lift. Now that you have the Lift Key, you can go to Basement 4.  You'll get out to find Rocket members guarding the place. Defeat them all and head through the path to find Giovanni, who you also have to defeat. You'll get the Silph Scope for doing so.

Rescuing Mr. Fuji

Head back to Lavender Town with the Silph Scope. Heal up and head inside the Pokemon Tower.

Just follow the path around the room and take the stairs up to the second floor. When you head on, you'll be stopped by your Rival.  He'll have a level 25 starter, a level 25 Pidgeotto, and a level 20 Kadabra. He'll have 2 other Pokemon at level 23 and what they are depends on what you chose as your starter.

After the battle, head on to rhe next floor. Do the same for the next floor and the one after that.  There should be a square here where you' can heal your Pokemon if you step on it. Make your way to another staircase and you'll be engaged into a battle with a Marowak. Defeat it and head on.

On this floor, there should be Rocket members gaurding the path. Defeat them all and talk to Mr. Fuji to be taken back outside into his house. He'll give you a PokeFlute, which will come in handy later.

Celadon Gym Leader, Erika

Make your way through the Underground Pass and back into Celadon City. Before doing to battle Erika, head into the Celadon Mansion. Talk to the lady on the first floor to get an item that will gain you access into Saffron City later.

Head to the south part of town to the gym. You'll have to cut a tree to get into it.  Erika has a level 24 Victreebel, a level 24 Tangela, and a level 29 Vileplume. Fire types will come in handy here. Antidotes and Paralyz Heal will come in handy in this battle. At the end of it all, you'll get your fourth badge.

Head over to Route 16 and look for a tree to cut down. On the other side of the tree you'll find a house with someone inside that'll give you HM02-Fly, which is extremely useful.  Snorlax and the Cycling Road

The path on Route 16 will be blocked by a sleeping Snorlax. Remember the PokeFlute you got earlier? Use it to take up the sleeping giant. You can either capture or kill this thing. If yuo kill it, you'll have a second chance to catch another one later. There are only 2 Snorlaxs in the entire game so you might just want to capture it anyways. It's pretty powerful after a bit of training.

Continue on to Cycling Road. It's just a downward path with no twists or turns. Lots of trainers though. Once you reacah the bottom, head east to enter Fuschia City.

Fuschia City and the Safari Zone

The gym is in the south part of the city. There's an invisble wall placed around the gym so it's a maze. Make your way to Koga.  Koga uses a Koffing at level 37, Muk at level 39, Koffing at level 37, and a Weezing at level 43.

Now on to the Safari Zone for a few important items. Make your way around the Zone until you find the Surfer's House. Talk to the guy inside to get HM03-Surf. Also, look for the Gold Tooth.  When you have the Gold Tooth, head back to the city. Go over to the Warden's House in the east part of the city and give him the tooth. He'll give you HM04-Strength for recovering his tooth...

You can get a Good Rod from the Fisherman's House next to the Warden's House.

Saffron City and the Silph Co.

Since you have that item from the Celadon Mansion you got earlier, you can head past the Guard Houses and into Saffron City. If you don't have it, scroll up and find the section in Celadon City that talks about the item.

Head over to the Guard Houses and give him the item you got (it's a drink...). They'll let you pass.  Saffron City has 2 gyms, but the one that actually gives a badge is blocked off by Team Rocket right now.

Head over to the Silph Co. building. If you can't find it, it's the biggest building in the entire city. You'll need to find the Card Key to get to the top of the building to clear Team Rocket out. Take the lift up to the 5th floor. Head left and then down to find a warp tile. Head past it (without stepping on the warp) to the right to find the Card Key.

You can explore this place for some decent items now if you want. To continue, make your way to the 3rd floor. Head down and open up the door with the Card Key. Step on the first warp tile you see and you'll end up on the 7th floor with your Rival.

If you choose Bulbasaur:

  • Pidgeot -Level 37

  • Gyarados -Level 35

  • Eggxecute -Level 35

  • Alakazam -Level 35

  • Charizard -Level 40

If you choose Charmander:

  • Pidgeot -Level 37

  • Growlithe -Level 35

  • Eggxecute -Level 35

  • Alakazam -Level 35

  • Blastoise -Level 40

If you choose Squirtle:

  • Pidgeot -Level 37

  • Growlithe -Level 35

  • Gyarados -Level 35

  • Alakazam -Level 35

  • Venusaur -Level 40

After defeating your Rival, talk to the Silph Co. employee to get a Lapras.  Take the other warp to get to the 11th floor. You'll be forced to battle all the Rocket members here. At the end of it all, open up the dor for a battle with Giovanni.

Talk to the President after the battle to get the prized Master Ball. Leave the building and heal up. It's time for a gym battle.

Inside the gym, you'll have to use warp tiles to get to Sabrina. Once you do, you'll have to battle a level 38 Kadabra, a level 37 Mr. Mime, a level 38 Venomoth, and a level 43 Alakazam.

If you want, you can head next door to the other gym. Just fight your way through and beat the leader. You'll get to choose to take a Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee as your prize.  Now it's time for Cinnabar Island.

Cinnabar Island

To get to Cinnabar, fly back to Pallet Town and surf south. All the way south. You'll be on Cinnabar eventually.  This is a small island so you shouldn't get lost. The gym is locked right now. You'll need to find the key for it.

Remember those fossils you found all the way back in Mount Moon? If you go into the Research Center, you can get them revived into Pokemon.  To open up the gym, you'll need the key to open it up and that's in the Cinnabar Mansion in the northwest corner of town.

Head inside the mansion if you haven't already. Just walk up and go up the stairs.   You can choose to walk up to battle a trainer and read some notes about Mew. otherwise, press the switch on the statue and make it's eyes stop glowing. Head to the northwest part of the room and go into the stairs.

Press another switch. Head south past a scientist. Drop down the largest column. You'll land somewhere back on the first floor. Battle the trainer and keep heading on until you reach another set of stairs. Go down them.

Head into the room on your left. Turn the statue here on and backtrack to the stairs is. Head north from the stairs to the unlocked room. Keep heading north until you reach another statue. Turn it on and head left. Take the item in the middle of all the plants. It's the Gym Key.

Head back to the gym and open it up with the key. You'll have to answer questions to get to Blaine. The answers in this order are: Yes, No, No, No, Yes, No.   Blaine uses fire types levels 40-47. He has a Growlithe, Arcanine, Pontya, and Rapidash.

After you beat Blaine and head back out of the gym. Bill will ask you to help him. So..help him out. He'll take you on a boat to the Sevii Islands.

You'll dock on an island and Bill will take you to a Pokemon Center. You'll get a Ticket from him which allows you to return here whenever you want. He'll ask you to do him a favor. I suggest you do since all the PCs will be busted until you help him. Refer to the first three islands of the Sevii Islands Guide for this.

Once you've helped Bill fix the PC, fly to Viridian City.

The Viridian City Gym

The puzzle inside the gym is the same ones you encountered back in Celadon. The gym leader is none other than Giovanni himself.  He has a level 44 Rhyhorn, a level 42 Dugtrio, a level 44 Nidoqueen, a level 45 Nidoking, and a level 50 Rhydon.

Victory Road

Exit the city to the west. Remember that place where you battled your Rival here all the way in the beginning of the game? You'll be battling him there again.

If you choose Bulbasaur as starter

  • Pidgeot -level 47

  • Rhyhorn -level 45

  • Kadabra -level 47

  • Gyarados -level 45

  • Exeggcute -level 45

  • Charizard -level 53

If you choose Charmander as starter

  • Pidgeot -level 47

  • Rhyhorn -level 45

  • Kadabra -level 47

  • Growlithe -level 45

  • Exeggcute -level 45

  • Blastoise -level 53

If you choose Squirtle as starter

  • Pidgeot -lvl 47

  • Rhyhorn -lvl 45

  • Kadabra -lvl 47

  • Growlithe -lvl 45

  • Gyarados -lvl 45

  • Venusaur -lvl 53

After battling him, keep heading west and inside the building. Go past all the guards who ask you for badges until you get to Victory Road. Make sure you have a Pokemon that knows Strength with you.

Once you enter Victory Road, you'll see a boulder. Push the boulder all the way to the right using Strength. Go down the stairs. Keep going until you see 2 more set of stairs. Head down the one on the left.

Keep going until you see a ladder with a trainer by it. Go up the ladder.  You'll see some more boulders here. Head down to the boulder below you. Push it on the switch. Head over to the stairs. Go east and fight a trainer. If you go down the stairs you see ehre, you'll find an item. Anyway, keep going east until you find another set of stairs going up.

Here, you'll see a boulder on top of you. Push the boulder all the way north until it is one square away from the wall. Then start pushing it to the left. All the way to the left. You should be able to see a switch by now. Push the boulder onto that switch. Go back to the ladder on this floor that you used to come here. Head up the stairs and head west until you find a set of stairs leading down.

If you see 2 trainers side by side, you're in the right place. Go past them and start heading east. Push the boulder you see into the hole and jump down it. Then push the boulder to the switch on the left.

Head up the ladder near the trainer.  Head for another ladder and climb down. Then just head to the east and exit this cave. Head north to enter the Pokemon League.

The Elite Four

Stock up on items. Lots of them. LOTS. Unless all your Pokemon are already level 100 or something...

  • Elite Four Lorelei: Dewgong, Cloyster, Jynx, Slowbro, and Lapras

  • Elite Four Bruno: Onix, Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, Onix, Machamp

  • Elite Four Agatha: Gengar, Golbat, Haunter, Arbok, Gengar

  • Elite Four Lance: Gyarados, Dragonair, Dragonair, Aerodactyl, Dragonite

And the Champion is your Rival...he always seems to be ahead of you.

If Bulbasaur's your starter Pokemon:

  • Pidgeot

  • Alakazam

  • Rhydon

  • Exeggcutor

  • Gyarados

  • Charizard

If Charmander's your starter Pokemon:

  • Pidgeot

  • Alakazam

  • Rhydon

  • Arcanine

  • Exeggcutor

  • Blastoise

If Squirtle's your starter Pokemon:

  • Pidgeot

  • Alakazam

  • Rhydon

  • Arcanine

  • Gyarados

  • Venusaur

After beating him, you'll be placed into the Hall of Fame. If you've caught at least 60 Pokemon, Professor Oak will give you the National Dex which will let you capture Johto Pokemon in Kanto.

Now onto the Mystery/Rainbow/Sevii Islands...

Back to One Island

Return to One Island and move south, hop in the water to explore Treasure Beach to the south. On the way, you'll run into a trainer.

  • Swimmer Amara:  Seel (36)Seel (36)Dewgong (36)

On the beach itself, use the Itemfinder to locate some fresh goodies. When you're done, Surf back up to town and head east down the sandy Kindle Road.

Kindle Road

Plop back into the water here. Go face the single trainer on the island to the east.

  • Swimmer Abigail :Psyduck (35)Psyduck (35)Golduck (37)

When you're done with Abigail, head north to rejoin Kindle Road. Follow it north towards Mt. Ember. In the weeds here, try to get your hands on a Ponyta. As you continue north, you'll encounter:

  • Picknicker Claire:  Meowth (35)Pikachu (35)Meowth (35)Clefairy (35)

  • Camper Bryce:  Nidorino (36)Sandslash (36)Raticate (36)

Continue north, ignoring the stairs to the right for now. Instead, continue over to the beach to the east and battle the trainer there.

  • Swimmer Garrett:  Shellder (35)Cloyster (35)Wartortle (38)

Surf down the coast to find a Max Repel, then go back north, go back to the beach and head north to battle the next trainers:

  • Crush Kin Mik & Kia:  Machoke (39)Primeape (39)

  • Black Belt Shea:  Machop (38)Machoke (38)

  • Black Belt Hugh:  Machop (37)Machoke (37)

When you're done with these guys, go inside the Ember Spa and talk to the old man at the north end of the cave. He'll give you HM06 (Rock Smash). This will allow you to smash all of the barricading rocks around the island. Before you leave the cave, slip into the hot spring and restore your energy and that of your team.

Return to the first part of the Road. Just past Bryce, go up the steps and work your way down the long platform heading south. On the southern tip, you'll run into another trainer running in circles:

  • Crush Girl Tanya:  Hitmonlee (38)Hitmonchan (38)

Once past her, use Rock Smash on the two boulders here to get to the Carbos. Return north and smash the three rocks in a row on the beach to get to an Ether. Once you have it, head north again and go past the Spa. There is another trainer on the beach here.

  • Crush Girl Sharon: Mankey (37)Primeape (37)

Plop back into the water and Surf to the north, and you'll come across:

  • Swimmer Finn :  Starmie (38)

  • Swimmer Maria:  Seadra (37)Seadra (37)

  • Fisherman Tommy:  Goldeen (33)Goldeen (33)Seaking (35)Seaking (35)Seaking (35)

When you finish with this last trainer, swim north to Mt. Ember.

Mt. Ember

At the top of the stairs, talk to the hiker to teach one of your Pokemon Explosion. If you want it, learn it. Then move left and move the boulders to get through. Battle the trainer you meet on the other side:

  • Pokemon Ranger Beth:  Bellsprout (38)Gloom (38)Gloom (38)

Continue until you reach a set of stairs and go up. Head to the right and move to the second staircase and go up it. Here you'll meet another trainer.

  • Crush Girl Jocelyn:  Hitmonchan (38)Hitmonchan (38)

Once she falls, go up the stairs to the north, take a left, go down the stairs and then head north to another trainer encounter.

  • Pokemon Ranger Logan:  Exeggcute (37)Exeggutor (40)

Head north into the cave entrance and be sure to put a Water-type in the front of your party. You're about to run into a bunch of Geodudes. Keep working through the cave until you reach the exit. When you come back out, go to the left and move up a couple sets of stairs to reach the lair of the third legendary bird Pokemon... Moltres!

Moltres' Lair

When you arrive, push the right boulder up one spot, the left boulder over to the left one spot. Now, push the middle boulder left, the upper boulder up and all the way to the right. By now you should see Moltres. Save your game before taking on Moltres. As always, try to wear him down before making with the Ultra Balls. Once you've caught the fiery bird, exit the lair and check the remainder of the mountain to find a Dire Hit and collect a rare Rapidash.

Getting to Four Island

Getting to Four Island requires you do a number of things. First off, you need to beat the Elite Four. Once that's accomplished, make sure you have 60 Pokemon caught and go visit Prof. Oak. He'll give you another task... to go look for special Pokemon species that cannot be found in Kanto. He'll upgrade your Pokedex to a National Pokedex, allowing you to record information on even more species. Once you have this, head to One Island (or, if you're already there and fulfill the appropriate criteria),. talk to Bill in the Pokemon Center, and go to Mt. Ember to find the gem he's looking for.

When you arrive at Mt. Ember, head to the right and battle the two Rocket Team Grunts guarding the cave entrance.

  • Team Rocket Grunt:  Ratatta (35)Raticate (35)Sandshrew (35)Sandslash (35)

  • Team Rocket Grunt:  Cubone (37)Marowak (37)

When you beat both trainers, they will step away from the cave entrance. Go west and take the ladder down, then keep moving to the next ladder. On the next floor down, use Strength to move the boulders. Make sure you don't push the middle boulder to the right. Instead, go up and around to get to the ladder to the south. On the next floor down, push the boulder right and down to get past. At the split in the path, go south (not east, as that is the way out). Push the single stone down the long path toward the small waterfalls and go down the stairs, then down the ladder. When you arrive below, you'll see several encrypted messages. Ingnore them for now and go down the ladder to grab the Ruby below.

Go back to the east path and follow the ladders out of this cave. Return to the Pokemon Center and speak to Bill. He'll take your Tri Pass and Town Map and replace it with the Rainbow Pass and ask you to go to the Sevii Islands. Take the Pass to the dock and sail to Four Island.

Four Island

Once you arrive at Four Island, you will be greeted by none other than Gary... your annoying rival. When he runs off, move up the beach and use Rock Smash to bust the rock. This will give you access to a Star Piece. Once you have it, move up the stairs and into town.

Want a Sticker?

Go to the building next to the PC and you will find a Sticker maniac. Talk to this person to get stickers for your accomplishments. Since you're in the Hall of Fame, you will get that sticker first.

Pokemon Day Care

In the northwest corner of the city is the Day Care. Head inside to chat up the Day Care Lady. If you need to grow a Pokemon's levels, you can leave it here and check on it later. Or, you can leave two Pokemon here so that they breed and produce a different kind of Pokemon altogether.

Move Tutor

Next to the Day Care is a Move Tutor who will teach one of your Pokemon Body Slam. Teach the move to a Pokemon if you wish...

Icefall Cave

Head to the eastern side of town and go down the stairs. Surf on the water and collect the Stardust on the grassy lip near the water. Surf north to find the cave entrance. In the first room, Surf north and exit through the opening in the ice.

This is called Icefall Cave for a reason. If you step on a square of ice twice, you'll fall down a level. Make your way to the north end of the cave and deliberately fall through the single square of ice here. Once downstairs, take the ladder up. Fall through the ice to the east to find yourself on the sheet of ice below. Skate down, then to the right to get to the Nevermelt Ice. Return back upstairs. Now go through the more southern ice square. Skate up, right, then down to get to the southern end of the ice patch. Grab the Full Restore past the ladder, then return to it and go up. Upstairs, you will get the HM07 (Waterfall). Teach it to a Pokemon and head back out to the previous cave. Face the waterfall and use your new skill. This will raise you to the upper level of the cave.

Go down the ladder, then into the nearby cave. Here, you will find Lorelei, who is being harassed by some Grunts. Help her out by handling them:

  • Team Rocket Grunt:  Zubat (38)Zubat (38)Golbat (38)

The Grunts cough up the location of Rocket headquarters, where they are running their Pokemon poaching scheme from. Head to Six Island to find it.

Six Island

When you first get to town, head into the Pokemon Center and Mart

When you enter the Pokemon Center, your Rival will be there. Speak to him, then heal your Pokemon if need be. When you're done, go east and down the stairs and battle the trainer on the beach.

  • Juggler Edward:  Voltorb (46)Voltorb (46)Mr. Mime (48)Electrode (47)

Head south through the tall grass (pick up a Sentret while you're here) until you reach the stairs. Go up them and face the trainer there, then continue south to Ruin Valley.

  • Hiker Earl:  Onix (49)Machoke (49)

Ruin Valley

When you get to the grassy portion, head south. Push the rocks near the southern bend to get the Sun Stone, then return north. Take the path west and cut through the grass. Continue down until you reach two paths leading down. Take the leftmost one to locate an HP Up. Go down the right path leading south to find a staircase leading up to fight with the next trainer.

  • Pokemaniac Hector:  Rhyhorn (49)Kangaskhan (49)

Go north then east to find some stairs up to another couple of trainer battles.

  • Ruin Maniac Stanly:  Graveler (48)Onix (48)Graveler (48)

  • Ruin Maniac Foster:  Golem (50)

  • Ruin Maniac Larry:  Machoke (49)Machoke (49)

Continue south down the stairs and move to the door. It has a braille inscription. It says Cut, so use Cut on the door and it will open. Go inside to get into Dotted Hole.

Dotted Hole

Inside this cave, drop through the hole in the floor. There is a tablet with more cuneiform writing on it. It will give you directions... but what do you care? We're gonna tell you first:

UP    LEFT     RIGHT     DOWN

When you get to the bottom, you'll find the Sapphire. As you take it, some scientist shows up and steals it from you, taking it to Five Island. Don't go there yet. Leave the cave and return the way you came. Go up the stairway you passed on the way there to fight this trainer:

  • Hiker Daryl:  Sudowoodo (50)

Once you defeat him, move the boulders to his right to find a Full Restore. Return to the beach and head north. Surf in the water at the north end and keep heading up to find this trainer:

  • Swimmer Denise:  Chinchou (49)Lanturn (49)

  • Swimmer Samir:  Gyarados (50)

Once you get to land, you'll face this pair:

  • Twins Miu & Mia:  Pikachu (50)Pikachu (50)

After you defeat them, go up into town to take on another.

  • Aroma Lady Rose:  Sunkern (49)Sunflora (49)

On the west side of town, you'll run into the Green Path.

Green Path

Green Path is home to wild Pokemon (including Heracross) and a bunch of trainers.

  • Youngster Cordell:  Farfetch'd (48)Farfetch'd (48)

  • Bug Catcher Garret:  Heracross (49)
